Russian antitrust to consider case against Microsoft on July 24

MOSCOW, Jun 8 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service will consider a case against U.S. giant Microsoft on a complaint from local antivirus software producer Kaspersky Lab on July 24, a spokesperson for the authority said on Thursday.

The watchdog opened the case in 2016 after Kaspersky Lab complained that the U.S. company had cut the compatibility adaptation time of antivirus software of third-party developers for Windows 10 to six calendar days from two months.

Such activities could lead to unfair advantages for Microsoft on the software market, according to the service.

On Tuesday, Kaspersky Lab filed a lawsuit to the European Commission and Germany’s Federal Cartel Office against Microsoft for abuse of dominance on the operating system market and unfair competition on the market of solutions against computer threats.
